Up for sale, here’s an incredibly clean and highly collectible 1979 (not a reissue) Gibson Les Paul Custom in Silver Burst in ALL ORIGINAL including its hardshell case in Excellent condition. Made in the Nashville, TN factory (USA), Norlin era.
10.4 Lbs, which is pretty good for what you can expect from a late ’70s Les Paul Custom. Pretty well balanced. Serial # shows 71029561 (Serial code is YDDDYRRR, where YY is the production year, DDD is the day of the year and RRR is the factory ranking/plant designation number).
As you might know, ’79 was the first year of the Les Paul Custom in Silver Burst and only lasted for about 3 years. These very early models are known for having the typical appointments from any Late ’70’s LP Custom, and if you’re reading here you might probably know is basically the exact same guitar that Adam Jones from Tool made iconic and it’s nowadays a Signature model. Furthermore, the Les Paul Custom in Silver Burst has been reissued several times by the Custom Shop.
The guitar appears to be all original including all its hardware, frets and electronics. The Silver Burstfinish seems to be a factory finish has been“yellowing” naturally as you can expect, having some light checking and patina over the silver hardware. There are absolutely no re-routes, cracks nos mods whatsoever.
All electronics, including both original T-Tops pickups (both dated early ’79 , as well as pots dated late ’78. All electronics seems unmolested with factory soldering.
The frets are original and beside having some honest wear they still have plenty of life ahead. The neck is perfectly straight with its truss rod in perfect working order. The guitar plays amazingly well as you can expect. It’s been professionally set with a fresh se of D’addario .10″ – ’46”.
Aesthetically, the guitar has very minimal surface level light marks of usage, discoloration, patina, light buckle rush, however the instrument is in Excellent condition for its age and you will hardly find another one like this. It comes with its original Black hard shell case that is inExcellent condition with its there latches fully working.
It’s a great opportunity to get a real vintage ’79 Les Paul Custom in one of the rare colors, Silver Burst for a really great price, it’s the cheapest online int he US. The guitar ships out to continental US and some international destinations. Local pickup in LA is also welcome.
